Comparison
Goodcomms vs Help Scout
The closest thing to a fair fight on this site. Help Scout is a good product built by people who also think support should feel human. The disagreement is narrow, and it is about which side the AI works for.
The short version
What it comes down to
Standard is $25 per user a month, below our $29, and there is a real free plan for five users. We have neither and will not pretend otherwise.
AI Answers is an add-on at $0.75 per resolution. Like everyone else's, it answers your customer.
So the question is not price. It is whether you want AI that talks to your customers for $0.75 a go, or AI that makes your people faster for nothing.

Where the real difference is
Which side the AI works for
Help Scout got the tone right years before anyone else. If you are happy there, this page is not trying to move you. The one thing we do differently is refuse to let the model send, enforced by a database constraint rather than a setting. If that distinction does not matter to you, they are a fine choice.
In fairness
What Help Scout is better at
- A real free plan. Five users, which is more than we offer anyone
- Cheaper at the entry tier. $25 against our $29
- A built-in help centre, which we deliberately do not have
- Ten years of maturity we cannot claim
Honestly
Whether you should move
Switch if
- You want AI on the agent's side, not the customer's
- The per-resolution add-on is adding up
- You want the rule enforced in the schema, not a settings page
Stay where you are if
- You need the help centre in the same product
- The free plan is doing the job. Stay on it until it is not
Questions we get
Help Scout is cheaper. Why are you telling me that?
So what do I actually get for the extra $4?
Your customers get a person. Your people get their afternoon back.
We're onboarding a small number of teams by hand, and we'll do the migration with you.
